Flax & Kale

I love weekends where you have absolutely no plans and they turn out being one of the best ever.

That was definitely this weekend for us.  I have never been a huge fan of Valentine's day and here they don't celebrate it nearly as much as we do so Carles wasn't too bothered by it either.  After both of us throwing some last minute ideas together; it really ended up being such a nice, relaxing Valentine's day weekend. 

Friday started with me Pinteresting 7 gazillion "winter sangria recipes".  After narrowing it down to about 10 1, I set off for the grocery store in search of red wine, cinnamon sticks, fruit, and sprite.  After mixing that a few other random juices I already had in the fridge, it actually turned out delicious!  Carles (who isn't the biggest fan of wine/sangria was even asking for 2nds and 3rds!) 

Saturday we woke up and got ready to head to Flax & Kale which is an amazing vegetarian restaurant that I have been stalking on Instagram and various food blogs for weeks now.  I was literally SO excited to finally be going there after reading their menu and looking at pictures of all their dishes for so long.  

Let me just say.. It did not disappoint.  When we left, Carles actually said "let's make it a point to come here once a week".... SAY WHAT?!?!? This is the guy who usually rolls his eyes when I tell him I heard about a new vegan or organic restaurant or juice bar.  I am the HAPPIEST!  I can't wait to go back and try more of their yummy raw/ vegan/ gluten free/ organic/ vegetarian dishes and fresh juices.  Not to mention... The ambience inside is just as amazing!  

For an appetizer we ordered salmon sashimi toast which was incredible.  

For our main course we decided on the "Spaghettini PBGF" which was a plant-based gluten free spaghettini made with rice and seasoned with various herbs, leek, chile velouté, and coriander.  SO good!

For "desert" I ordered the Açai bowl which was equally as amazing as everything else.  

To drink, of course we had to order some of their fresh cold-pressed juices which they are famous for.

I went for the "Vegan Vampire" which included pear, beetroot, carrot, pineapple, orange, lemon, and ginger and was so tasty!  Carles fell in love with the "Green Slim Fit" which had apple, fennel, celery, arugula, parsley, ginger, and lemon inside.  

We each ordered 2 juices to go.. Carles got 2 "Green Slim fits" and I chose two different ones and they were both tasty and oh so healthy!

As I mentioned earlier, the ambiance inside is vibrant, modern, open, and so unique making the whole experience amazing.  I wish I would have taken some pictures of the actual dining area but instead I just got this one... :)

Flax & Kale also has a "sister" restaurant called Teresa Carles which obviously I can't wait to try out as well.  It is so refreshing knowing you are putting such healthy things inside your body and another one of the best parts about the restaurant- it isn't overpriced.  We were very pleased with all of the prices considering the quality of the food you are getting.  You really can't beat it!  

After our fabulous brunch, we walked around the city and spent the rest of the evening watching Netflix and relaxing.  Sunday we took a little adventure to one of my new absolute favorite places in Barcelona that I will share with you tomorrow!  If you have seen my Facebook, you got a sneak peek :)

  1. Sounds awesome! I heard of this stuff called fitness bread....sounds like you might like it! :-) Also, I like your "horny" juice.
